Outlander fans have been eager for the second half of Season 7 ever since the midseason finale aired in summer 2023. The Starz drama took an extra long hiatus this time, with Part 2 not slated to return until sometime in 2024.
So when exactly can viewers expect new episodes on Netflix? And what might happen in the anticipated Part 2? Keep reading for everything we know so far about Outlander’s return.
Confirmation of a Part 2 Release
Luckily, Starz confirmed in March 2023 that Outlander would be getting a Part 2 to wrap up Season 7. The network even released a special teaser trailer confirming the news.
“The story continues in 2024,” text on the video stated. “Catch up on Outlander on the Starz App.”
Additionally, the show’s official Instagram clarified that Season 7 would have 16 total episodes, with 8 airing in summer 2023 (Part 1) and 8 more coming the following year (Part 2).
Release Date Speculation
However, Starz has yet to announce an exact release timeframe for when the back half of Season 7 will air. The teaser only promised a return at some point in 2024.
In the past, new seasons of Outlander have typically premiered in the spring. If Part 2 follows the same rough schedule, it could return as early as February 2024.
But given the extended wait between parts this year, a slightly later premiere date perhaps in summer 2024 seems plausible too. Fans will likely face a few more months of “Droughtlander” before new episodes finally drop.

Outlander fans know that new seasons don’t immediately appear on Netflix after airing weekly on Starz.
Typically, the streaming giant adds a new season around 6 to 12 months after that season finishes its cable run. For example, Season 6 wrapped up in early 2022 but only landed on Netflix in October 2023.
Applying a similar delay between Starz air dates and Netflix uploads, we can expect Season 7 Part 2 to hit Netflix sometime in late 2024 or early 2025.

Part 2 Episodes and Storylines

Meanwhile, in the future, Roger and Buck travel back in time through the stones, searching for Roger’s son Jemmy, who was kidnapped. That left Bree and daughter Mandy stuck anxiously waiting in the 20th century.
We know from the books that Part 2 should cover:

It’s safe to expect Part 2 will pick up right where Part 1 left off with lots of action, intrigue, and sweeping Scottish scenery.
Cast Returns and New Characters
All the central players, including leads Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, will be back for the new episodes. And they’ll be joined by plenty of fresh and familiar faces!
Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts confirmed characters like Geillis, Dougal, and Jamie’s sister (now played by Kristin Atherton) will make appearances somehow despite those roles being previously killed off.
New villainous and mysterious figures will enter the fray, like Benedict Arnold and the wealthy Mercy Woodcock.

While we still don’t have a firm return date yet, at least fans can rest assured knowing more Outlander is definitely on the way in 2024.
